One of the best in the country
Being a relative newcomer (it's just over 30 years old) has its advantages. It has had the advantage of introducing a very modern environment from the beginning, and has evolved into a centre of excellence for teaching and research. Its faculty is like the who's who of the education fraternity, with several of them known even internationally. It fosters a spirit of meritocracy and tries to attract the cream of the lot. The University's PG and research programmes are a favoured lot, and also draws a number of international students. It probably is one of the very few places where public-private partnership has ensured a high level of investment for development. Its scholarship programme is unique -- it's modelled on incentivizing the student to perform even better because his scholarship is increased every time he does so. Infrastructure-wise, it's probably the first University in India to be completely wi-fi in-campus (68MBPS). UoH has 10 schools of study including Management Studies, Mathematics & Computer/ Information Sciences, Sarojini Naidu School of Perfoming Arts, Fine Arts & Communication, Engineering Sciences & Technology and Medical Sciences. By the way, the university offers a 1:10 teacher student ratio, one of the best in the country.
